How it Works
Turning Your Shirts into a Keepsake Quilt
A memory quilt is more than a blanket. It is something you will use, hold, and cherish. At Pert Near Perfect, I take the shirts and meaningful materials you cannot part with and transform them into quilts that keep the stories visible and woven into everyday life.
My approach is a little different from standard t-shirt quilts. Instead of filling space with blank t-shirt fabric or fixed squares, I cut around the graphics and logos you care about. This helps your quilt feel rich in meaning and character, and allows the designs you love to stay front and center.
Step 1: Reserve Your Spot
Click the Reserve Your Quilt Spot button and complete the $100 non-refundable deposit. This reserves your place on my quilt calendar and goes toward your total quilt cost. After your deposit is placed, I will send you an email with the shipping address and a short preference form to complete.
Your spot is officially secured once the deposit is received.
Step 2: Ship Your Shirts
Please send your items clean and uncut. Cutting graphics out before sending causes distortion and makes it harder to stabilize the fabric. If you are unsure how many items to send, refer to the Sizing & Pricing page for recommended shirt counts and comfort shirt counts.
Extra items are helpful, especially with my style of cutting. Extras give me more choices when laying out your quilt so it feels balanced and meaningful.
Follow the shipping instructions in the email and include your completed preference form.
Step 3: Layout and Approval
Once your items arrive, I confirm receipt and begin working on a layout based on the materials and your notes. I will send you a photo of the proposed layout for your approval before sewing begins.
This step gives you a chance to confirm the direction or request a small change. Your approval ensures the quilt feels right to you before anything is permanent.
Step 4: Quilt Completion and Final Invoice
After the layout is approved, I finish sewing your quilt using techniques that help it hold up over time. When the quilt is complete, I send final photos along with the invoice for the remaining balance.
The final balance is due before your quilt is shipped.
Step 5: Delivery
Once final payment is received, your quilt ships insured with tracking to the address you provided. You will receive tracking information so you can follow your quilt on its way home.
Intro Pricing and Shirt Guidance
A $100 deposit is applied toward your total. Total quilt prices vary by size and are listed on the Sizing & Pricing page along with minimum and recommended shirt counts to help you choose the best size for your materials and vision.
If you have questions about sizes, pricing, or shirt counts before placing your deposit, message me and I will help you estimate based on what you have.
Turnaround Time
Turnaround time begins when your items are received, not when the deposit is placed. Typical turnaround time is currently 6 to 8 weeks after garments arrive. If you have a deadline, let me know before you order so I can tell you what is realistic.
What to Send
Please send:
- All items clean and uncut
- Jerseys, sweatshirts, pajamas, pants, shorts, and other meaningful fabrics
- A printed copy of the preference form with your contact info
Items that are unusable due to condition will be discussed with you; unused Items can be returned upon request.
Why Extra Shirts Help
Because I cut around graphics and logos rather than using fixed t-shirt blocks and fillers, some items may only contribute to part of a section. Extra items give me options to make the layout stronger and more meaningful. Recommended counts are listed on the Sizing & Pricing page.
Sending extra items is not waste. It helps make your quilt feel intentional and balanced.
